For True Success Ask Yourself These Four Questions...
I was checking the blogs on facebook today and a very good friend and Comadre Pennie Rodriguez posted :
For true success ask yourself these four questions: Why? Why not? Why not me? Why not now?
Wow, this is an "Ah ha" moment for me... how can four seemingly small questions be so huge? Imagine the possibilities if we only stopped and asked ourselves these three questions.
Often times we allow fear to keep us from attempting things when opportunities come up. We allow that little fearful voice inside to discourage us from taking risks, from reaching our potential, from taking a leap of faith.
The next time you are face with an opportunity to try something outside your comfort zone.... stop and ask these four simple questions.... can cultivate a healthy disrespect for the impossible!

Inspiration Deficit Disorder
How many of us are suffering from Inspiration Deficit Disorder and need help? IDD affects millions of people in the world today. The media focuses on all that is wrong with the world today, but how much time is spent on getting inspired?
What I do when I begin to feel stressed and uninspired is listen to inspiring music like the soundtrack from Rocky. I read something inspirational like The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. I do watch an inspirational movie like Stand and Deliver. And finally, I do something inspirational like volunteer at a local school.
What can you do to control your Inspiration Deficit Disorder?

Whitney Houston - One Moment In Time
As a Self-Enrichment Instructor I often urge my students to look for books, movies, quotes or songs that inspire them or motivate them to be the best they can be or to achieve something they desire... For me I have several options, but this song strikes an inspirational cord with me. I hope it does with you as well.
Enjoy, and Be Blessed!

Inspiring Reading: What Book Has Inspired You To Be A Better Leader?
I recently taught a workshop on leadership development for my Alma Mater. I based my presentation on a combination of leadership books that I had read that inspired me to be a better and more effective leader. Later that day, I moderated a leadership forum with several prominent Latino leaders on issues facing our community. Afterwards I was speaking with the executive director of a prominent Latino community organization Ms. Joanna Otero, of Concilio about what has inspired her to be a better leader and the conversation led to the question "what are you currently reading or what have you read that has inspired you?"
I later thought about this conversation when one of the students contacted me for the names of the books that Joanna and I had mentioned. I provided her with a list and she later emailed me to say that she had just gotten the books and asked which did I recommend she read first. This email prompted me to write this blog, because I'm sure that many of us can benefit from each others list of books that have inspired us.
To that end, I'd like to take the lead by creating a forum for you to help each other find books that keep your forward-thinking wheels turning.
What have you read that has made you a better leader? Whether is non-fiction or fiction, I want you to share what you've been reading that has inspired you.
Please comment in the space below with the title of the book and a brief statement saying how it has helped you think differently or stay ahead of the curve. Use your full name so I can give you proper credit. Each week, I will select one book recommendation and feature it in on this blog and my facebook fan page for Latino Leadership Alumni Association, with props to you for the recommendation.
I look forward to your contributions! Happy reading! I will begin the conversation with one of my all time favorites which I quote from frequently: The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom, A Toltec Wisdom Book by Don Miguel Ruiz.
