We Don't Value Free or Easy

Often times, I hear the quote "If it's free, give me three!" This sounds funny enough, unfortunately many people are programmed to depend on hand-outs and hand-ups.  The problem is that free is not valued.  If it comes easy to you, you don't tend to value it either.  I've read hundreds of articles, books and blogs about successful people and what they do.  I've been mentored by highly successful people and this is what I have found:

Highly successful people invest regulary and significantly in their own growth...
They spend a great deal of time and money in acquiring the best resources in terms of books, coaches, workshops, classes, and programs in the pursuit of excellence.  They tend to be the eternal student, always looking for ways to learn and grow, be the best at their craft.

Highly successful people pay-it-forward by helping others...
Each freely shares what they've learned with colleagues, mentees, and clients. Their willingingness to help others who aspire to do the same by sharing their knowledge, skills and expertise impacts society exponentially. Those they help, tend to pay-it-forward and help others as well.

Highly successful people become fountains of information...
Highly successful people are more concerned with their growth than their comfort; they are more committed to learning than leisure. That means they invest in time and energy in learning and development.

But it doesn't end there... not only do they share their expertise, they increase their expertise and abilities in the sharing. A wonderful synergy takes place when they help others. Not only are others learning from this exchange, you increase your own knowledge base when you teach what you know to others.  You gain insights from others in the process.

The lesson, if you aspire to become and stay successful: pay-it-forward...
