When you give others what they want, you paradoxically receive what you want.
If you want power, empower others...
If you want money, give money...
If you want respect, give respect...
If you want to learn, teach others...
If you want praise and recognition, give praise and recognition...
If you want to be free, liberate others...
If you want love, give love...
What you do for others will be done for you...
So it is written, so it shall be done...

We Don't Value Free or Easy
Often times, I hear the quote "If it's free, give me three!" This sounds funny enough, unfortunately many people are programmed to depend on hand-outs and hand-ups. The problem is that free is not valued. If it comes easy to you, you don't tend to value it either. I've read hundreds of articles, books and blogs about successful people and what they do. I've been mentored by highly successful people and this is what I have found:
Highly successful people invest regulary and significantly in their own growth...
They spend a great deal of time and money in acquiring the best resources in terms of books, coaches, workshops, classes, and programs in the pursuit of excellence. They tend to be the eternal student, always looking for ways to learn and grow, be the best at their craft.
Highly successful people pay-it-forward by helping others...
Each freely shares what they've learned with colleagues, mentees, and clients. Their willingingness to help others who aspire to do the same by sharing their knowledge, skills and expertise impacts society exponentially. Those they help, tend to pay-it-forward and help others as well.
Highly successful people become fountains of information...
Highly successful people are more concerned with their growth than their comfort; they are more committed to learning than leisure. That means they invest in time and energy in learning and development.
But it doesn't end there... not only do they share their expertise, they increase their expertise and abilities in the sharing. A wonderful synergy takes place when they help others. Not only are others learning from this exchange, you increase your own knowledge base when you teach what you know to others. You gain insights from others in the process.
The lesson, if you aspire to become and stay successful: pay-it-forward...

Let Your Light Shine...
Our deepest fear is NOT that we are inadequate...
Our DEEPEST fear is that we are powerful beyond measure..
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?
Actually, who are you NOT to be?
You are a child of God..
Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you...
We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us..
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciouly give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
~ Marianne Wiliamson
I really like this quote because often as women, we tend to keep our light hidden under a bushel for fear that other women will not like us or want to be our friends, that men won't want to be with us because we are talented or make too much money, or have standing in the community.
Sabes que? The Creator gave you unlimited potential to manifest a great life... but you were also given free will to choose the life you want to lead. Do not abdicate your choices based on what others might say or do. Choosing to do nothing - is also a choice. Always do your best, knowing that under all circumstances, simply being the person you were meant to be.. and doing your absolute best will keep you from having regrets about what you woulda, coulda, shoulda done and why your life is what it is...

Realize It's Not A Competition...
When I reflect on the value of community, many thoughts come to mind:
my success can be achieved only with others...
my lessons can be learned only from others...
my weaknesses can be strenghtened only by others...
my servanthood can be tested only under others' leadership...
my influence can be compounded only through others...
my leadership can be focused only on others...
my best can be given only to others...
so I should commit myself to and celebrate with others...
Recognize that other people have an impact on every aspect of life. I can choose my attitude whether that impact is positive or negative.
Don't look at your friends, family or teammates as competition... Be that rare kind of person who is happy when others succeed.
I realized a long time ago that it was impossible to do anything of real significance on my own. It is very difficult to achieve any measure of success without help and even if you do become successful, you won't enjoy it without friends. Life is better in a community of people you love and who also love you...
What I have discovered is that the journey is a lot more fun when you take someone with you for the ride!

I've Got News For You: You Are Paid to Work
It's funny, the personality ethic would have us believe that we should do what we love and love what we do and the money will take care of itself... it will follow. Well that's a load of malarkey! I don't love what I do and I suspect that few of you love what you do! But guess what? Your boss doesn't care if you love every aspect of your job - he/she is not paying you to love your job! Your boss is paying you to do your job! Shocking, isn't it?
I like what I do well enough for me to put up with the aspects of what I'm supposed to do that I hate/dislike. Either way, I do my best. Now your best obviously is going to be different when your under the weather as opposed to being in tip-top shape, but again - you are not being paid to feel good. No one really cares about your marital problems, personal problems, your kids school recital, or whether or not you are in the "mood" to work. They are paying you to get the job done - then go home.
When my ex-husband and I owned our own business, we hired people to get the job done. We tried to work with them if they needed time-off to deal with their other responsibilities like kids/parents. But for the most part, we could care less if they loved their job or either one of us! We just wanted them to do what we were paying them for: WORK.
So the next time you come into work and think that your boss or co-workers should be more compassionate about your personal problems - remember: You Are Not Being Paid To Be Happy or Love Your Job... You Are Being Paid To WORK.
Got that? Good! Now go on and enjoy the rest of your day!
